SDL Recap

Is there anyone out there who can stop Mix90? If you have been living under a Warno sized rock the past two weeks you may have missed it but, Mix90 is taking the Division 1 playoffs by storm. So far they have gone 5-1 in games, and arguably kinda threw their one loss versus stardekk. Mix is currently the perfect synthesis of micro, macro, and meta knowledge. Wielding weapons teams (ATGMs and MMG/12,7), deploying aggressively, and then suffocating opponents, does anyone have a chance? That is the question for bablegun and Stahlbrecher who face off in the other Division 1 semifinal, battling for the right to face Mix90 in the finals.

In Division 2 the margins are razor thin. Our semifinal opponents Aim_Deusi, Kotch, and Greyhound all had to go the full three games in their first rounds, with only Pasta La Vista posting a 2-0 win. Of these twenty two games, our Division 2 playoff participants have used 18 (!) different divisions. The depth of these commander’s playstyles is being put to the test.

In Division 3 if _menkar4_ manages to best 5_luuk_5 then the semifinals will be an all Group A & B affair.  DivMob has not been kind to our Division 3 commanders going 0-2 in the playoffs.

In Division 4 the cream has risen to the top. Vladik, theHellene, RegMonkey, and barkas85 rolled through their first round matchups. 16 DE has shown up in all of the other Divisions, except Division 4 commanders have shied away. I guarantee that the Belgians will make an appearance moving forward.

Playoff metagame numbers can be found in the Snapshot HERE and the full data HERE.

Fatkid’s Lunch - Division Analysis

When I am not running Warno tournaments, or playing Warno, or writing about Warno (wow what a loser I am) I dabble in the card game Magic: the Gathering. There is a culture within the MTG community to cry for bans when certain cards or strategies become oppressive. Some of my favorite content creators in that space have counter argued that innovation in strategies is needed before bans take place, aka STOP WHINING. Therefore, in this week’s Fatkid’s Lunch, let's talk about how to destroy MMG teams. Close your eyes Mix90, this may be painful for you to read. MMG teams are not broken but they are cheap and therefore when they destroy an infantry squad two or three times their price the momentum gained is substantial. We must look to be efficient in our answers to combat such a strategy. Things that beat MMG teams at a relatively cost-efficient rate:

  • CEVs

  • Snipers

  • Small caliber artillery

  • 50 cal boxes

  • Smoke and satchel or flame infantry

  • Going around them

    • MMG teams are defenders not attackers
  • And above all, your own MMG teams

Let's check in on our winless regular season divisions to see if they have had any impact on the playoffs so far.

  • 76-ya OG Desantno-Shturmovaya  (0-0)

  • 4th Armored Division (0-1)

  • 35th Infantry Division (Mech.) (0-0)

  • 35-ya OG Desantno-Shturmovaya (0-0)

  • 24th Infantry Division (1-0)

  • 303. Tankova Divize (0-0)

And on the flip side the three “best” divisions from the group stage.

  • 16 DE Pantserdivisie (3-1)

  • 6-ya Og Motostrelk. Div. (2-1)

  • 2. Panzergrenadier (1-2)

Fantasy Update

When Protoss asked me to handle the Fantasy League for this season of SDL, I kinda rolled my eyes, cause Fantasy doesn’t really do it for me. I have been converted! Watching this race for the SDL Merch has been fascinating. And it all comes down to this.

Mike/Chips (681 points) Patrician Ricimer

Adler_750 (606 points) grejhaund, fatkid, 5_luuk_5

Sequoia (593 points) theHellene, fatkid

FM14 (591 points) Stahlbrecher, Kotch

Vladik (587 points) vladik, fatkid

Grand Potato (567 points) Kotch, fatkid, 5_luuk_5

Stahlbrecher (559 points) Aim_Deusi

The division 3 playoff match between Fatkid and Patrician Ricimer and the division 4 battle between Vladik and theHellene will go a long way in determining the winner of the fantasy for this year.

Warno Ranked GOTW

If you have an interesting ranked game of Warno that you would like to share, now is your chance! Please send your replays and a short description to Warno.Dispatch@gmail.com to be considered for this space each week.

Until next week Commanders…

A note of caution as you click on the “Ranked” button for the foreseeable future; the bombs drop very fast. With the recent changes to the high-altitude bombers, ground units have more to fear than ever. Don’t clump up your tanks, buy extra AA, and invest in some long range ASFs. I for one am glad that 2. Panzergrenadier got some buffs…
