As we close out the group games I am back for another juciy stats update (you know you love them).  But before we head into the stats a moment of personal indulgence if you don't mind.  After 6 seasons (yes I joined league back in season 4) I have made it through to my first finals campaign.  Somehow I have moved up two divisions without actually making finals before but obviously the organisers could see the awesomeness in my game and knew Div 3 was where I would shine.....that's my story and I am sticking to it.    Now before I get smashed and bounced out in straight matches by Lesitte a moment to gloat, I am now officially better than HoboTango at the game who failed to progress beyond his group.  Now Hobo before you come in flaming and demanding a match to prove it, I will politely decline and point to the scoreboard. 

* Ok enough tweaking the Dragon's tail, onto the stats.  A total of **159 game**s were played in the group stage and 318 divisions chosen, we had a few matches that were closed out as forced draws but still a decent amount of games being played.  ** Axis division**s were the  go to choice being chosen **184 times (57.9%) **with **Allies taken 134 times (42.1%)**.    88 of the 159 games were a Axis v Allies matchups, a very healthy 55.4%.  Axis mirrors were chosen 44 times (30.2%) and Allies mirrors 23 times (14.5%).  Of the 88 Axis v Allies matchups, Axis won 54 of them (61.4%) and Allies won 34 (38.6%), a clear advantage to Axis.

  **Average game length was 29Min 52sec**s which is pretty standard since the time limit has been brought in.  Speaking of time limits there were 10 matches that went all the way to the 50min mark (6.3% of matches).  At the other end we only had 4 games that finished in under 10mins. 

  In terms of incomes,** Maverick of course still rules, chosen 210 times (66.0%)**. Balanced came second with 58 Selections (18.2%), Vanguard next with 44 (13.8%) then the also rans, Flatline with 3, Juggernaut with 2 and V for Victory with 1.   Interestingly there was only 29 games with a Maverick v Balance matchup and it was pretty much split 50:50 with Maverick winning 15 times and Balance winning 14 times.  On the flipside there was 23 Vanguard v Maverick matchups but this time, Vanguard clearly came out on top winning 16 of the 23 matchups.

* 
* Onto the divisions, lets start Axis.  The most popular divisions were** 5 Cavalerie Motorizată, played 17 times** for a 13-4 win record.  Not far behind was **4. Fallschirmjäger (10-5) **and **17. SS-Panzergrenadier (8-7) **both played 15 times.  And **78. Sturm played 14 times (6-8)**, **Gruppe Harteneck played 13 times (6-7**) and **Panzerdivision Tatra played 12 times (8-4).**   Best performing Axis div though goes to a little division that has only been played 6 times by has a 5-1 record, **14. Infanterie seems often overlooked** and maybe should be played more.  The other good performers flying a little below the radar is  1 Blindată played only 5 times but has a 4-1 record and 4 Munte also played 4 times for a 4-1 record.  Fallschirm-Panzer "Hermann Göring" also has a good record with 4 games and 4 wins.

  Worst performers for Axis are **4a Divisione Alpini, played 4 times for a 0-4 record (because Protoss wasnt participating :( ).**   11. SS-Freiwilligen also has struggled with 7 games for only the 1 win (1-6).   Only 6 of the Axis divisions have yet to see a game, these are** 1. Fallschirmjäger, 5. SS-Panzer "Wiking", Panssaridivisioona, Panzergrenadier "Grossdeutschland", Panzer Lehr and Panzerverband Strachwitz.**

* With the Allies the most popular was 26-ya Gvard. Strelkovy which was taken 13 times but only 1 person managed a win with them and they were left with a awful 1-12 record.  Congrats to Atkpwr Gaming who was the only player to achieve a win with them.  Other popular division selections were 1e Division Française Libre taken 12 times (10-2 record), 7-y Mechanizi. Korpus taken 10 times (3-6) and Rezerv 43-y Armii taken 10 times (3-7 record).  Best performing divs however are hard to find with no div having a particularly strong record in the Allies.  I call out to Podv. Gruppa Fedyunkin though, 3 games for a 3-0 record.
  Plenty of poor performers though, we have already highlighted the 26-ya Gvards and 7-y Mechanizi, Rezerv 43-y Armii  also don't have great records. Not far behind are 1 Piechoty with 6 games and only 1 win and 2nd New-Zealand 3 games with 0 wins.  Overall then the free French the Allies have struggled.    On a positive note, like Axis, only 6 of the 40 Allies division have yet to see a game, 3-ya Gvard. Mechanizi., 6th South African, 15th Infantry, 184-ya Strelkovy, 358-ya Strelkovy and Morskaya Gruppa Bakhtina.
* A total of 112 ban records have been entered of the possible 159 which is a good percentage to draw conclusions from.  The most banned divs were, **97-ya Gvard. Strelkovy (Banned 94.6% of the time)**, for the record they did get picked in 4 games for a 2-2 win record. ** Then 2nd Infantry Division "Indianhead" who were banned 86.6%** of the time (Played 7 times for 3-4 record),** 17. SS-Panzergrenadier banned 81.3%** (played 15 times for a 8-7).  In fact if you add the bans and game splayed for 17th SS they were knocked out or played in 91% of the time.   Other banned divs were **4. Fallschirmjäger (75.9%)**, **78. Sturm (63.4%), 44-ya Gvard. Strelkovy (59.8%), 1e Division Française Libre (49.1%), Task Force 45 (48.2%), 26-ya Gvard. Strelkovy (33.9%) and Rezerv 43-y Armii (30.4).**

  Clearly 97-ya Gvard. Strelkovy, 2nd Infantry Division "Indianhead" and 17. SS-Panzergrenadier  are the most feared Divs, all banned or played in over 90% of games.

  In terms of player position the stats say the current way we do picks bans is the most balanced it has ever been.  Of the 112 ban forms I have received Player 2 has won 58 games and Player 1 has won 54 games.  Way too close to call.

* To close out the stats for the group phase lets talk maps.  The biggest shock this season was the popularity of the Slutsk Maps, Slutsk and Slutsk East both sit equal top of the ladder with  15 games each.  The ever popular Orsha East also shares the lead with them on 15 games.  Orsha North and Shchedrin right up there also on 14 games.  In fact these top 5 maps make up 49.5% of all games played in League.  At the other end of the ladder is Lenina and Ostrowno both with 1 game each.  Every map though was used during the group phase.  One of the most surprising changes this season was Kostritsa went from the 3rd most popular map in Season 8 to only being played 8 times this season so far.

  Ok so the concludes the group phase, best of luck to those that have made it through to finals and to those that haven't there is always next season.  I will be back at the conclusion of finals for a final league wrap, for now it is off to practice more with the mighty 1. Skijäger. Statistics SD2 League S9 Group Stage

After a already close fought group stage  and  even closer Quarterfinals we have arrived at the Semifinals of SEASON Zero with only 8 players Remaining.

In Division 1 Lathans will have the tough task of trying to beat the Tournament Favourite Karma and Infamous will meet a Phoenix who has played many times better then everyone expected! As the Semi Finals will be played in a Bo5 it will be interesting to see how many different strategies we will see and what kind of mind games are played.

In Division 2 VulcanHDGaming is showing that he aint just good in creating Videos he is also damn good at playing the game. Ajoor will have a tough fight ahead of himself if they want to overcome this opponent.

In the other Semifinal matrin will have to overcome another favorite after he already did beat GenRa in the Quarterfinals, this time his opponent is named Fantyx!

WARNO League Season 0

All Stats and facts about League Season 8






Well here we are 231 games later and Season 8 has come to an end.  A huge congratulations to Kuba (aka Mr James), Stardekk, Mimile, Yamin and of course Gonzo who were crowned champions in each of their divisions.  In this update we will look at the overall stats but also talk about the finals in particular.



First up lets flip things around and talk maps.   Probably the biggest difference betwee the group phase and the finals was the extensive use of Kostritsa.  Used 9 times during the finals (second highest), in fact nearly every map was used during the finals.  The only maps missing out were the two "Wests",  Slutsk West and Brest West.  Even Lenina got its first run when Mimile and CK530 used it in one of their semi-finals match, it was shortlived game though when Mimile employed the burning hot fromage and CK530 felt the burn of the Vietnam Napalm bomber.  Sizzle indeed!



Overall Shechdrin ended the season at the top of the pile, used in 32 games of the possible 231.  A very healthly 13.9%.  Other popular maps were Orsha East (25) , Kostritsa (23), Orsha North (22) and Slutsk (20).  In fact the top 5 made up 52.8% of games, so you better make sure you know these 5 maps. 

Average length of games was a very respectable 29mins 24 secs and there was 15 games that went the full distance of the 50min time limit. Only two games during the finals series went to the time limit.  In one of the Div 4 quarter finals  The Tusk's 4. Fallschirmjäger outlasted Wantsomenoob's 3-ya VDV on Kostritsa.  While in Div 5 semi finals, DrakeMallard's 44-ya Gvard. Strelkovy edged out Lszek's 2nd New-Zealand on Bobr.  Interestingly no map stood out as having the most 50min matches as it was spread around and there was no clear stand out div that stood out in the 50 min matches.



As expected incomes were dominated by Maverick v Maverick matchups.  88 of the possible 120 divisions were played with Maverick income in the finals, that is a whopping 73.3%.  Balanced of course was second with 24 (20%), then 4 Vanguard and finally 4 Juggernaut.  A huge call out the Mimile who not only was reponsible for all 4 instances of Juggernaut but actually won 3 of those (and one of the wins was against Maverick!!).   At the other end of the income scale Khers lead the way with 3 of the 4 Vanguard appearances (winning two of them, one a cracking game against Onord's VDV with Panssaridivisioona on Kostritsa in the Div 1 semi finals).



Overall we saw a total of 56 games with Maverick v Balance during the entire season (14 during finals).  Maverick just had the edge with 31 wins (55%), while balance won 25 (45%) of the matchups.  In finals of the 14 Maverick v Balance games, 10 were won by Maverick 

Faction wise, Axis maintained their slight perference throughout the season.  Of the 231 games they were chosen 244 times of the possible 262 (52.8%) and Allies were chosen 218 times (47.2%).  That translated into 142 Axis v Allies matchups (a very heathly 61.5% of games), of which Axis won 81 of them (57%) and Allies won 61 (43%) so it does look like Axis does have a edge.  In the finals there was 42 Axis vs Allies matchups.  The trend remained with Axis winning 28 of them (67%) and Allies winning 14 (33%).



It's only right to talk Axis first.  Overall the most popular divs were 28. Jäger (22 times for a 12-10 record), Panzerdivision Tatra (20 times 13-7), 20. Panzer (19 times 8-11) and 78. Sturm (18 times  12-6).  Best performing div goes to 17. SS-Panzergrenadier, played 16 times for a 13-3 record.  Worse performing divs were 11. SS-Freiwilligen Panzergrenadier, played 11 times for a 2-9 record and Verteidigungsbereich Toulon, played 9 times for a 3-6 record.  In the finals  28. Jäger was the most popular (7 times for a 4-3 record) but biggest surprise was probably 26. Panzerdivision getting 5 runs for a 3-2 record (overall it finished with 12 appearances for a 6-6 record)



In terms of the Allies, the clear favourite was 1 Piechoty which was used 21 times (11-10 record), interestly in the finals it struggles, being picked 7 times but only getting 2 wins. 2nd Infantry Division "Indianhead" was overall second fav with 19 appearances (7-12 record), a shocking 1-5 in the finals. Then its a big drop down to 126-y L. Gornostrelkovy which showed up 15 times (7-8).  The dark horse for the Allies was 358-ya Strelkovy, it only appeared in 7 games by won 6 of them.  The worse performing goes to Morskaya Gruppa Bakhtina, 8 appearances for only 1 win.  In the finals 3-ya VDV was exposed badly, having 5 appearances and losing all 5.  44-ya Gvard. Strelkovy was probably the top allies div in the finals, only used 3 times but won all 3. 

Well that brings me to the end of my Season 8 wrap.  If anybody wants my detailed stats sheet just yell, happy to share it now the season is over.  May you always dodge the Ju88 S-1, may your opponents Tractions always find the boggy roads and remember always assume Onord and Stardekk have PTRS squads near your spawn!!

4th SDL Fundraising Tournament

# WARNO 1v1 Rookie Tournament by SDL



Format:

Group stages -> Playoff

Start date: Sunday, April 9th, 2023

The last day to sign up for this tournament will be Friday, April 7th, 2023

Max Sign ups:32, Further sign ups will be put on the reserve list

Players will be split into four groups composed of four players each based on region/time zone.  Additionally, there are four coaches who have volunteered to be a part of this event to help new players.  Every player will have a coach, but no coach will oversee more than one player from a group.  

The tournament will probably last 4-6 weeks, so please plan accordingly.  Each week, there is a match in which two games must be played (Best of 2).  After playing the games, the player and assigned coach will do a replay review to assess faults in gameplay and work to address them for future games. Backseating will not be allowed. Each coach will offer assistance along the way and we will try to find suitable coaching methods based on an agreement with the participants.

Playoffs: At the conclusion of the group stage matches, the top player from each group advances to the semi-final Best of 3 playoff.  Winners will duke it out in the finals (also Best of 3) for the ultimate glory of victory.

Qualifications:

* Less than 250 overall multiplayer games (preferred but not required)
* Less than 60% win rate in RANKED 1v1 (preferred but not required)
* Less than 50 games played in RANKED 1v1 (required)
* Have not won a Warno tournament game before (preferred but not required)

Please keep in mind that all tournament sign ups will be evaluated and judgment will be applied to ensure there is a fair, competitive environment for new players to thrive. If you feel you are uncertain regarding whether you fit the criteria, please sign up anyways and we will evaluate on a case by case basis.

Players have to use the Name they signed up with with in Games played in the Tournament.



Participants must not engage in harassment or hate speech in any form (messages, usernames etc.). This includes, but is not limited to:



\* Hate speech, offensive behavior, or verbal abuse related to sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, or religion.

\* Stalking or intimidation (physically or online).

\* Spamming, raiding, hijacking, or inciting disruption of streams or social media.

\* Posting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (“doxing”).

\* Unwelcome sexual attention. This includes, unwelcome sexualized comments, jokes, and sexual advances.

\* Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.



Players dropping out without a valid reason, cheating or offending might be banned from participation in future SDL events.

On the 4th Of November we once more host a Fun Friday Night Event in which Protosszocker and Eugen Systems Sire Tatassticot le Margoulin will join the competition!

# Format:

2v2 Single Elimination Tournament with Teams signing up with Divisions they want to play for the whole tournament, you have to choose 2 different divisions.Blue vs Blue and Red v Red is possible due to this.

Games have to be started within 10 minutes of Round begin, if one team member doesnt show up the other player either has to have a replacement at hand immediately or play with a Medium AI on their side.

Disconnect of one player:

1. If it happens in setup it's a rehost on same map with the same divisions
2. If it happens  after the active phase of the game has started, the other player has to play on with an AI Allies

One Day Swiss style Tournament with Best of 1 Games.

  The Mode will be Control with 45 min Time limit, more infos below.	

Maps will be predefined for each round.

Teams have to be 2-4 players, with always 2 playing and only 2 Fleets signed up, reserve players have to use one of the 2 signed up fleets.

4th Nebulous: FC 2v2 Tourney

 Format

   

The tournament is split into 5 Divisions with 2-3 groups, all divisions work independently from each other.

Division 1 is the highest skill, while Division 5 is the lowest skill.



Groups will be ‘Seeded’ by:

1\. Results in previous seasons of the SD League 

2\. Existing ELO data gathered from all other tournaments conducted by the Steel Division League Team 

3\.  Fresh recruits will be asked for self-evaluation in the sign-up form to position them in the right squad.

4\. Credibility



The top 6 Players of the Group stage in each division get into the Playoffs. Only 2 Players can advance from each Group.

The player who finishes in the last position in each Group will be relegated to the Division below for the next season.



Group Phase

Group Phase is played in a Round Robin format with a best of 2 Matches 

2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss



The Top 6 players in each Division advance to the playoffs, with the 2 best players of each Division getting a bye and being seeded into the Semifinals.

After the first week of competition at least one matchup has to be played, unless the player contacts the organizer to give a valid reason for not playing. The same applies to further weeks and rounds.



The group stage ends after 4 weeks of competition.

Unplayed matches will be auto-resolved towards the player who put more effort into playing the game, if neither put any effort, the game will be a 0-0 tie providing no points.



Dropping out of League or not finishing matches without a valid reason will result in a BAN for the next Season of League and a significant loss in Credibility for all SDL tournaments in Steel Division and Warno.



Play-Offs



Play Offs work in the same way as the group stage. The only difference is that all games are Bo3, and the final is Bo5.

 

The playoffs end after 3 weeks of competition.



Match Setup

One player must flip a coin ($flip) Winner of the Flip gets to decide if they want to be Player 1 or Player 2 for the following procedure, in game 2 players swap roles without flipping. In game 3 the flip decides again.



Map pool: All the 1v1 maps are in the map pool.



Fischy system for map picks.

Pick Order:

Player 1 gets 5 different maps from SodBot using the $rmap command.

Player 1 bans 1 map.

Player 2 bans 1 map.

Player 1 bans 1 map.

Player 2 bans 1 map.

The remaining map will be played.

Player 2 bans 2 Divisions (of either faction)

Player 1 bans 3 Divisions (of either Faction)

Player 2 bans 3 Divisions (of either Faction)

Player 1 bans 2 Divisions (of either Faction)



Bans Count for BOTH players, Division are NOT allowed to be picked double!

Player 1 Picks a Faction (Axis or Allies)

Player 2 Picks a Faction (mirrors allowed)

Player 1 Picks Division

Player 2 Picks Division

Player 2 Picks Income

Player 1 Picks Income



Game Mode:

Player 1 hosts a lobby with the following settings:

Capture the Flags

Meeting Engagement

750 Starting resources

x1.0 income

X1 Duration

The disconnect of one player:

If it happens in setup it's a rehost on the same map same divisions

If it happens after the deployment it's up to the Player who stayed in the game to decide if he gives the other player a rematch

If both players DC at the same time it's a rehost with the same map and Divisions.



If anything is unclear, get in contact with one of the Organizers.



Tie Breaker:

1\. Points

2\. Direct Game Results

3\. W-L-T Ratio

4\. Buchholz Median

5\. Bo1 Game, set up with the rules above (2-way or 3-way Tie after above Tie Breaker)

6\. If still Tied in a 3-way Tie, Players will play a Bo3 Air Battle with a combination of Fighter Planes of a combined worth of max. 250p, First Blood wins. 

Time Limit

Every game of League will be played with a 50-minute Time Limit. In this case, if any game doesn’t end before the 50th minute, the player with the most credits at the moment the time ends wins. 



If the players cannot agree on who has more credits, the organizers will intervene and tell based on the replay. If the time runs out, and both players have an equal amount of credits, the player with more flags controlled at that moment wins.
