We survived the week of the “Bot is not working.” Now onto some fascinating Warno analysis.
We start with the eternal (20th century?) struggle of Kapitalism and Kommynism. Skuf and ProKommy faced off in an exciting battle on Ohmen that started with Gazelle Cannons and ended with $kuf eventually stemming ProKommy’s flanking attempts. Helicopters and AA were the real heroes for both sides. Game 2 was where the action was at though! Double vetted, and then triple vetted with an infantry CV, 82nd Airborne soldiers held off wave after wave of 35th National Guard infantry pushes. ProKommy was forced to call upon Gunships and CEVs to finally crack open 82nd Airborne’s hold of the town on the map Surrounded. But Kapitalism had one more trick up their sleeves: an A-10 RKT dispatched ProKommy’s final CV. The point lead was too insurmountable for the 35th US to overcome even though the battlefield was mostly theirs. GG WP. The king is dead, long live the king. Is this just an early season blip or is Prokommy no longer the favorite?
Axis/Highlander and Hippie played out a fascinating series that Protoss and Chloride covered (HERE). I hope at some point Hippie covers the game in his own style of commentary because it was awesome.
In Division 4 the fates of many player’s fantasy teams went up in smoke as Regmonkey beat Super Xavi. Super Xavi had been selected by almost 50% of the participants in SDL Warno Fantasy. That game was covered by RyenSaotome (HERE).
There was some DRAMA in Division 3 in a battle between Arcanyom and Marechal Autisme. With 21 mins remaining the score was in favor of Arcanyom’s Korpus Desantowy 1129-24. But Marechal Autisme’s 6e started to turn the tide. With approximately 9 minutes left an AMC-10 command tank drove all the way around, completely unescorted and de-capped Arcanyom’s back +2 zone. Still 9 minutes left so Korpus can overcome the backline incursion, except Arcanyom is out of CVs!!!!! Game Over. In all fairness he brought 6 CVs, they all just got sniped.
There was a 39 ya sighting (and they won!) by Kotch in Division 2. A Pasta La Vista Berlin Command game which is always SO fun to watch. The master at work. Stardekk used the most up vetted T-72’s I have ever seen in a battle of 7th pnz versus 5e. And we saw a preview of a possible future real-life war between Tiberius-Rancor’s 1 Canada Division and the US 8th Infantry. All I will say about that game is “Rangers Lead the Way.”
All in all, the season is heating up, and it is some of these small moments and epic battles that make SDL so great.
WE GOT DATA. The Meta Snapshot is linked HERE. The total number of games in this snapshot is 98 which means 49 matches. Some of the map and division bans are incomplete because Division 1 players don’t understand the new replay/draft upload system. Div 2, 3, and 4 players are doing a great job!
So let's start the discussion with 1. Tankova Divize currently sits at a 22% win rate. Doing a deep dive into the division’s wins (all 2 of them) it was interesting that those Commanders cut some of their smaller tanks and relied on the 200+ point variety of T-72s. In the early and mid-game both victors utilized the division’s AA (Jesterka + OSAs do work), Recon (BMP-2’s are still good), and infantry strengths. Interesting development.
Another interesting development is the lack of wins by some of the most picked divisions; 8th US, 4e, 2nd pnz, and 5e. Their combined win rate is 16-24-2 for 38%. Not great for 4 of the 5 most picked divisions. But the 6th most picked division is 16 DE and they win EVERYTIME. Beware the Leopard-1s! On the other hand, do you need to worry about the CUCV’s? The answer may be “NO” as 9th US is the most picked winless division so far.
Next week we will get the first Warno Dispatch tier list. Still a work in progress, this tier list will assign point values to those divisions that get banned and others that win in the hopes of creating a quantifiable and undisputable tier list. (Many thanks to Beowulf for the idea.)
